Cracked and Degraded Cladding Types Including Plaster and Paint
Unmaintained or inadequately installed claddings can become brittle and crack, allowing water driven by weather to breach your home's exterior.

Application of exterior waterproofing products including full plaster coats and inbound mesh layers will allow cladding to breathe and move without cracking while making the exterior more durable.

Lack of or inadequate flashings, capping and saddles to exposed areas
This is your home's first line of defence against water ingress. Many homes have inadequate flashings and in some extreme cases they are completely lacking, leaving your home completely unprotected.

Installation of appropriate off-the- shelf or custom made flashings, or refurbishment of existing flashings that are inadequate, are the most effective way of protecting internal structures and finishings.

Inadequate Ground Drainage
Ground level is the final resting place of any residual moisture and water. Incorrect ground levels and inadequate drainage away from a home's exterior cladding can result in seepage that can cause damage to internal structures and exterior claddings.

Installing specific and effective drainage systems coupled with making all necessary ground level adjustments will ensure water drains away from the home, resolving this issue.

Structural Heights and Thresholds
Wet, untreated timber that has no ability to dry and has a lack of airflow around it will eventually break down and lose it's structural integrity.

Moisture testing and replacement of affected timbers with treated timbers is essential to reinstate the structural integrity of the home.  As an added measure, the areas around replaced timbers can have a topical treatment to increase resilience to any moisture generated by the home.

Perished rubbers and/or seals, potential issues with Joinery Mitres
Receding rubber seals or unsealed mitres and inadequate drainage can cause internal leaking.

These are the simplest areas to fix and can have a big impact on a home's durability.

Decks
Waterproofing membrane products used in this area of the home since the early 90s are now failing and are breaking down, often becoming the origin of very serious leaks.
Complete removal of these products and any existing systems and application of new structural waterproofing membranes and decking systems, is usually necessary.

  • We can't recommend this company highly enough. The process was made really easy from start to finish, we received regular progress updates and any queries were quickly answered. Disruption was kept to a minimum and the on-site team were friendly and professional. A very well deserved 5 stars.

  • Martin and his team was great to deal with. The work i had done was to convert to a external gutter system and had the house repainted, Gonzalo and Alex on site were great to deal with, friendly and explained everything. The whole project took a few weeks longer than expected but that was due to Aucklands great weathers conditions, wasnt a day without rain. I recommend Sound Homes and i would certainly use them again, Great work.

  • Highly recommend Sound Homes. Regan was very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. We had a really tight time frame to get a section of our exterior wall repaired and Regan made it happen. Gonzalo met us after hours on a Friday and also spent most of the weekend working to make sure the work was done. Really Impressed by the way these guys run their business.

  • Regan and his team did a fantastic job, quick response to the initial inquiry, onsite to do the work while other companies hadn't even got around to providing a quote, very high quality work and cleanup after they'd finished, I'd definitely recommend them.
